ANNOUNCING THE 3RD ANNUAL SHORT STORY CONTEST

2017 Storming the Short Story Contest


 


Get your pens, typewriters, pencils, tablets, phones, and/or computers ready. We're having a short story competition!

Who? 

Writers on the Storm (ACFW – The Woodlands) &

Houston Christian Authors (ACFW – Houston)


What? 

An original short story (6,000 word maximum). Entries must not have been previously published in any form.


When?
July 1st - Contest is open for entries.
August 31st - Submissions closed (Midnight Central Time).
September 1st - Scoring begins.
September 31st – Finalists announced.

Where?

October 21st - Winners announced at the ACFW-The Woodlands Indie Publishing Mini Conference.

Why?

To raise money for the ACFW Scholarship Fund.

How?

Theme: Matt 17:20

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Your short story can be about anything as long as it contains the theme mentioned above and has a clear faith element (Christian). 

What do I win?

The winning stories will be published in an anthology.

  1. I'm really excited about this contest!
    I could write a non-fiction story about this verse. A piece of my faith story centers around my grandmother, a mustard seed necklace, and this verse, one of my favorites.
